In EPrints the word "citation" is the rendering of an EPrint or other object as a single line, paragraph or table row.

The obvious use is to render actual citations for the eprint records, but "citation configuration files" are also used to describe how the other [[Data Objects]] are rendered as search results, in lists etc.
